Duplex Printing

Xandros Wiki | Duplex Printing (Two-sided printing)

I am using Xandros 4.1 Home Premium edition and a HP Deskjet 6122 printer. Duplex printing is a built in feature of this printer. This is what works for me and I hope for you.

In Control Center:

1. Click on Launch / Control Center / Printers.

2. At the Printer screen, bottom, click on Properties.

3. At the Properties screen, click on the Output TAB.

4. In the Duplex Printing box, choose Long Edge (Standard).

When you are finished using the Duplex feature, you will have to go back and change from Long Edge (Standard) to Off.

In OOo (Open Office Org):

First see instructions for Control Center above.

1. In the menu bar, click on File and choose Printer Settings from the drop down menu.

2. At top right, click on the Properties button.

3. At the Duplex option, choose Long Edge (Standard).

5. Click on OK which closes the Properties of K Printer box, click on OK again in the remaining box.

6. In the menu bar, click on File and Choose Print from the drop down menu.

7. At top right, click on the Properties button.

8. At the Duplex option, Choose Long Edge (Standard).

9. Click on OK and the Properties box will close, click on OK

    • again and the KDE print box will close.

7. After a slight pause, the X print box will open - at top right, click on Properties button.

8. In the Duplex Printing box, select Long Edge (Standard).

9. Click on Save.

10. Click on OK.

When you are finished with Duplex printing, you will have to change your selections and click Save again.

In Acroread (Adobe Reader):

First, see instructions for Control Center above.

1. After opening the Adobe file you want to print, click on the Printer icon on the Adobe icon bar.

2. At top right, click on the Properties button.

3. At the Duplex option, choose Long Edge (Standard).

4. Make sure after choosing Long Edge (Standard) that you see the following in the Printer Command box:

/usr/bin/lpr -P hp_deskjet_6122_1 -o Duplex=DuplexNoTumble

5. Click on OK. This closes the Properties box.

6. Now you are back in the Adobe Print Box. On the right side, toward the top, check the PostScript Options box. Make sure the only item selected is Level 2. If any other items were preselected in the PostScript Options box, clear them.

7. Make sure you have made any other selections you require for this print job, and then select OK.

In Acroread (Adobe Reader), you may have to repeat the first 4 steps to get the Printer Command box to show the command. At least, I did.

In Firefox:

First, see instructions for Control Center above.

In Firefox, click on File / Print / Properties / Long Edge (Standard).**

If you have Duplex printing with your printer, I hope this simplifies your printing life. It sure did for me.
