How To Add And Enable Source Repositories For Xandros Networks

Page history last edited by PBworks 16 years, 11 months ago

The purpose of this page is to provide instructions for adding download sources for Xandros Networks.

There are two ways (that we will cover) to add sources to your /etc/apt/sources.list file.

  1. Add via Xandros Networks.
  2. Edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file.

Note: For the examples below, I will be using the geekconnection.org repository, but it may be substituted with any repository address you wish to use. You also must be root/administrator to perform these actions and make them take effect.

Add Sources Via Xandros Networks:

  1. Open Xandros Networks.

    2. Go to: Edit>Set Application Sources.

    3. Click on the Add button.

    4. Type: deb http://www.geekconnection.org xandros4 main

    5. Click OK.

That's it!

Xandros networks should automatically reload the package list, and the stuff for Xandros 4 on geekconnnection.org should now be installable.

Add Sources By Editing The Apt Sources File:

  1. Open Xandros File Manager by clicking on Launch>Applications>System>Administrator Tools>Xandros File Manager (Administrator).
  2. Enter the root/administrator password.
  3. Go to: /etc/apt.

    4. Open the sources.list file.

    5. Add the repository address by typing:

deb http://www.geekconnection.org xandros4 main

    6. Save the file.

    7. Open Xandros Networks.

Xandros networks should automatically reload the package list, and the stuff for Xandros 4 on geekconnnection.org should now be installable.

Note: If Xandros Networks is already open, then add the following steps to reload the package list in Xandros Networks:

    8. In Xandros Networks, Go to: Edit>Update List.

Xandros networks should reload the package list, and the stuff for Xandros 4 on geekconnnection.org should now be installable.

That's it!
